Delicious

I registered some years ago when the site was called del.icio.us and then a few months ago imported all my bookmarks from the office computer. There is some duplication of bookmarks which will need time to sort out. The explanatory notes for the Philosophy Library site are very useful, as in the example here

Screenshot of the unedited version of my delicious page attached, this is very much a personal working tool rather than a Library site.

Tagging

Wish I could search tags across all Cam23 blogs or have the equivalent to the #cam23 twitter search.

Used tags within catalogue records in the College Library catalogue: http://dragon.caths.cam.ac.uk/liberty3/opac/quickclicks/reading.do

Clicking on the tags pulled up the full record(s) with Library of Congress headings and other notes

Twittering away

Did wonder about setting up a Twitter account for the library some time back but doubted that people would want to connect to it and chose to set up a personal account. Made about 8 tweets in the same number of months then got distracted by the # and started to follow #drwho #archers.
Followed BBC news then realised it was a lot easier setting up a RSS feed to igoogle. Was not able to attend the libraries@cambridge conference this year but did follow the tweets, although I am not so sure I like the idea of people commenting on speakers during a session. Feel that I may be a lurker rather than an active contributer

Editing the blog

Thanks beauty-school-dropout for the banner.
Since blogs develop and can be constantly tweaked what is the best way of refering to them, yes they can be bookmarked but a date and time reference needs to be added as well?

First thoughts on blogging

Hoping to get up to speed on various aspects of social media. Use Facebook to share photos and information about leisure activities with family and friends. Am skeptical about social media for institutional library use but willing to find out more and be convinced.
Postings may be delayed by sailing activities.
